Politicians
First two images are from Cal Cunningham took his father and son campaigning. His seven year old son grows shy amid the media attention in the first image, and works on a loose tooth in the second. More features then typical election photos.
Second two images Eric Mansfield wins his election. In the first image Eric reacts as his campaign manager tells him how large a margin he won by. The second is your congratulations hugs from family members.

Baby Yoga
Baby yoga classes to help keep baby flexible, develop muscles for crawling, walking, and promote balance. The classes also act as a way for mother and child to bond. The class was interesting to shoot. The child, 11 months, has CP and it was incredible to see the difference from the beginning of class to the end of the class. His mother stated she had never seen his body so relaxed before, and she had hope.

Portrait of a Surviving Family
This assignment was a series of portraits of people who bought flags to honor those who are serving or have served in the military for Memorial Day. This husband and wife bought a flag to honor their son who was killed in action in November of 2003. The wound was still very raw for them. They pulled out every piece of memorial they have from their son, from photo albums to his military insignias. He was newly married when he died, and a present day picture of his daughter sits in the corner. Any critique would be welcome.

Memorial Day
Unveiling of a memorial wall at Fort Bragg for USASOC (United States Army Special Operations Command) members. Here, a woman sees her son's name on the wall for the first time. This was a difficult assignment to shoot. With the homecomings, you get the very raw emotion of joy. Here, you get the pure emotion of grief.

Some features from the past couple of weeks.
Top is a Memorial Day feature with Uncle Sam in "The Field of Honor" where people buy flags to honor those who are or have served in the military.
Middle image is from a cancelled MMA fight. Long story short, a last minute cancellation where I was reporter and photographer for most of the night. I walked away with an image of what I thought was a disappointed fan staring at an empty ring. When I talked to him to get caption info, I found out he's practically deaf and didn't hear the announcement that the match was cancelled. He was trying to figure out why everyone else left. Poor guy.
That last shot is from a team meeting with the Fayetteville Swap Dogs, our very amateur baseball team. While photographing the team's first meeting I looked over and saw the coach's 3 year old bored out of his mind on the couch.
As usual, any and all critiques are welcome. Thanks!
Military Homecoming
Fayetteville is a big military town with one of the biggest military bases in the US-Fort Bragg. I have been fortunate enough to photograph several homecomings where the families reunite with returning soldiers. Family members are dressed up in their finest, every child holds an American flag and signs reading "Welcome home Daddy!", and tears stained cheeks are everywhere you look. The first homecoming I photographed is below. We followed a specific family that originally had over a dozen people to welcome home this soldier. Due to the volcano in Iceland and a variety of delays on the Army's side, the soldiers returned over 2 weeks passed their expected arrival date. Only the soldier's wife and mother stayed behind to greet him. Any comments or critiques would be welcome. Thanks for looking.
