A couple of weeks ago we had a group of elementary school children come by and tour the newsroom. I ended up being the spokesperson for the photo department and they were a pretty cute bunch. Photo seemed to be tied with sports for the "coolest" department. Heck yes! The kids then sent us an invitation to a fund raiser they had for "Pennies for Peace". The fundraiser wasn't the most visual thing, they stood beneath their artwork with cups held out for donations, not a lot of interaction, but I did get these two that I was ok with. What amazed me was how many of the kids came up to tell me that they look for my name in the cutline and tell the other kids "yeah, we met her." Felt like a rock star. Makes up for all the times people aren't thrilled to see your face.
